Griffin
Features and Habitat
A Griffin is known for its large size, with the body of a large cat and the head and wings of a bird. There are multiple variations of a griffin, with some having the front legs of a bird and the back legs of a cat. While others have all four legs as a bird or all four as a cat. This usually depends on their habitat. Griffins that reside in mountain ranges use their gripping talons to hold tight to the high cliffs. While Forest and Plains griffins use their paws to burst into speed.
All variations of Griffins, however, can fly. Their massive wings can reach a wingspan of 55 ft, and reach speeds of 75 mph. While they are light enough to gain altitude fast, they are also very nimble and powerful on the ground. The claws of all variations of Griffin are a formidable weapon, and their beaks can cause massive damage.

Diet
Griffins usually eat fish and other small animals. They are known to drag their front feet through the water mid-flight to lure fish and snatch them up with their talons. They are swift hunters, able to pounce on prey 50 feet away, using their wings to give them extra momentum.
Riders
Griffins have been tamed for years, usually used as cavalry and military animals. While wild griffins still exist, domesticating griffins is something of a hobby among enthusiasts. They have been known to have Griffin Races in Ambergate of Crytstalford. It is often a massive gathering of fans and sportsmen alike.

Ferry to Rennington
The night Thanark and a band of Minotaur Criminals attacked a ferry heading to Rennington, witnesses had told of the escaping Minotaur flying off on Griffin. This is indeed a feat, as Minotaurs are extremely heavy themselves. Griffins are known to carry extreme weights, but a rider the size of a Minotaur is indeed a feat. The griffins in question would have been able to fly themselves, and the minotaur, whouch together could reach as little as 800 lbs.
