Centaurs

Features

Centaurs are large, quadrupedal creatures, with the upper torso of a human. They are known to craft clothing from their surroundings, using leaves, vines, and sticks. Females are smaller than males but are just as adept at combat. Their coats can be an assortment of colors and patterns.

Culture

The Herd is everything to Centaurs. They live in herds of 10 or more, some herds being documented as being as large as 75 centaurs. Each Centaur is assigned a job, be it caretaker, cook, or sentry. During mealtimes, the herd eats as a unit, serving all food on a large table, and helping themselves as they wish.

Nature

Centaurs are highly proud beings, and immensely intelligent. They are known for their tight family groups and deep storytelling. They are highly skilled planners as well, and able to strategize any situation. While they are good at coordination, they do not respond well to spontaneity and can be thrown off or startled by randomness. They are attuned to the astrological universe around them, and one with their surroundings. They cherish the world they live in and their surroundings, ensuring anything they use, they waste nothing.

Habitat

Centaurs are usually found in dense forests. Despite their sizes, they are extremely nimble through the trees. They construct huts from animal hide, wood, and mud. Some herds can construct as many as 30 huts, creating a massive clearing in a forest.

Tools and Weapons

Centaurs make everything they own. They make tools out of sharpened stones, such as knives and axes. They use these tools to hollow out wood for bowls, tables, and more. They also make their weapons from their surroundings. They are experts in archery and can shoot a target from nearly 2,000 yards away with perfect accuracy. However, it takes several years of training to get this good, many Centaurs also rely on a closer combat tool: a spear. Built out of a carved tree limb and a sharpened stone at the tip, they use these to when close to enemies and their Bows are not as effective.

Territory

Centaurs are very protective of their territories. They will defend it from anything, from Werewolves, gremlins, and even humans. They have been known to kill anything that may wander into their territory. While some herds are welcoming of humans, others are far more brutal, resorting in trampling people on sight.
